Glasgow Dentists  - Bonding

The first step towards bonding is cleaning of your tooth which is done under local anesthesia. Any decayed matter and tartar is then removed as the composite material needs a clean surface to bond to. Glasgow dentist then shapes the tooth with a drill. In this process tooth is kept dry using cotton rolls and latex sheet. To etch the surface of tooth, Phosphoric acid based conditioner is applied where filling is to be done; it helps in strong bonding of the composite material to the tooth. 1-2 mm layer of bonding agent then applied until the desired aesthetic result is achieved. A special strong light which has heating effect also, is thrown on it. It hardens the composite. And then polishing and buffing of the composite is done until required thickness, shape and smoothness is achieved. Though such Composite filling lasts for 5-10 years, but these composite white fillings do not prove as strong as other restorative methods using ceramic or porcelain, also it has a greater tendency to stain than the surrounding teeth.
